We are a grassroots group of Jewish families on a mission to ensure the physical, psychological and emotional safety of all children served by the Toronto District School Board.
We support their right to learn about and express diverse identities, lived experiences, and perspectives on Palestine and Israel.
We believe the TDSB best serves its students, teachers, and communities by reflecting the diversity of Toronto’s Jewish voices.
Toronto Jewish Families work to end anti-Palestinian racism (APR) in the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) by advocating for students who are harmed by APR, by including Palestinian narratives in the curriculum and by demanding an acknowledgement of past harms by the board.
- We also celebrate Jewish holidays together and provide mutual support to our families and communities.
- We advocate for an end to collaborations with groups that perpetrate anti-Palestinian racism, weaponize antisemitism, harass students and staff, target progressive Jewish voices, or push for curbs on civil liberties.
- We also advocate for collaborations with organizations that teach about the political, cultural, and ethnic diversity of Jewish communities around the world, with an emphasis on anti-colonial, intersectional, and collective liberation-based approach to antisemitism.
- We collaborate with Toronto Palestinian Families in much of our work.
- When asked, we consult with families and groups who do similar work to ours in different locations.
